Job Description

Director Role

  • Director for research and development for automated driving
  • Lead research and development for L4/L5 urban automated driving (Robotics & SW)
  • Responsible for business planning, cost center responsibility
  • Responsible for recruiting / hiring / ramp up of team / develop measures to ensure team stability
  • Technical expert for automated driving and driver assistance topics
  • Governmental liaison for automated driving topics (e.g. interface to DMV CA & NHTSA for automated vehicle policies)
  • Collaboration/alignment between automated driving teams in Germany and Michigan
  • Develop vision and targets for automated driving team in Sunnyvale
  • Alignment on target vision with counterparts in Germany
  • Local XC interface for Silicon Valley startups and suppliers

Project Role
  • Workstream Manager / Project director - Fusion / Localization / Planning
  • Responsible Workstream Manager / project director for SW and algorithm development for automated driving for localization / fusion / planning in partnership for L4/L5 automated driving
  • Leading mixed team of Bosch / partner associates
  • Providing team with project vision, goals, timeline & technical expertise and production experience in automated driving and driver assistance functions
  • Responsible for project planning, project vision & goals for automated driving team in Sunnyvale
  • Ensuring development according to process guidelines and safety standards
  • Close international collaboration with other project directors / Workstream Managers
  • Target responsibility – Automated driving research team Austin, Texas
  • Responsible for target vision for Bosch’s automated driving team @ University of Texas
  • Develop strategy & enable team on site to realize key goals: research for reinforcement learning for AD, transition research into AD / DA production products, utilize UT for outreach & recruiting
  • Global alignment of site vision with AD leadership team in Germany

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering (EE, CS or Robotics)
  • 7 + years driver assistance and automated driving experience
  • Experience with modern SW development practices (CI/CD, data driven development, …)
  • Experience with automotive customers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Engineering (EE, CS or Robotics)
  • Strong network to driver assistance and automated driving community within Bosch (e.g. XC, CR, …)
  • Experience to lead international teams
  • Experience with West Coast culture / mindset
