The Strategic & Emerging Partnerships team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Vendor Manager (SVM), to lead Amazon's relationships with some of the fashion industry's largest brands.
A successful SVM must be an effective leader, communicator (both verbal and written), and partner to internal colleagues and coss-functional leaders. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter (comfortable with ambiguity), with a passion for retail and a high level of flexibility and commitment. In addition, this person must be able to act as the business owner for assigned businesses, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact your business. This includes ownership over forecasting, selection monitoring, as well as an understanding and reporting on business performance. Finally, successful SVM's are responsible for driving projects and promotions to achieve business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
  • An ability to successfully launch new vendor relationships, some of which may have different operating models.
  • A thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and business trends/events, and continually monitor competitor/industry developments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to maximize Amazon’s business profitability and selection expansion opportunities
  • A complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to advocate for and drive delivery of site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience
  • Manage vendor relationships - supplier/partner contracts, day-to-day relationships, and an ability to negotiate and secure marketing funds
  • Create business plans for new opportunities, development and execution of project plans for the launch of new features, inclusive of merchandising and pricing strategies
  • Coordination of cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets
  • MBA with relevant business experience
  • Relevant senior level experience in retail, operations, and/or business management with a proven history of delivering results
  • Proven experience leading teams & cross-functional projects
  • Working in a start-up or early stage environment where you will be defining best practice for your function
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management
  • Advanced experience with Excel, and an ability/willingness to interact with SQL
  • Highly polished communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes
  • Working in a start-up or early stage environment where you will be defining best practice for your function
